Sharita Ambrose

Meet Dr. Sharita Ambrose: A Towering Pillar in Health Advocacy
Dr. Sharita Ambrose, DHEd, MPH, CHES, CHWI, is nothing short of a powerhouse in the public health sector. With a 22-year career specializing in HIV/AIDS education and advocacy, her credentials are both impressive and vast. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Community Health Worker Instructor (CHWI). Sharita holds an array of degrees including a Doctorate and a Master of Public Health from A.T. Still University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from Texas Southern University. Raised as a military child, Sharita has been passionate about public health and wellness, particularly for Black women, since her undergraduate years. While at Texas Southern University, she didn't merely focus on academics; she took active steps to make a difference. She volunteered with Planned Parenthood, facilitated health conversations with students, and became a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
Her commitment doesn’t stop there. For over 15 years, Sharita has been a skills trainer for HIV providers across Texas. She developed comprehensive training for professionals involved in testing, counseling, and navigating clients through the HIV continuum of care.

La'Toya Swan

Meet La'Toya Swan, BS, CHES, CHWI, A Conduit of Community Connection

Mrs.La'Toya Swan has an equally impressive 20-year background in HIV/AIDS education and advocacy. An alumna of Texas Women's University, she majored in Health Studies and minored in Community Health. La'Toya is also a Certified Health Education Specialist and a Certified Community Health Worker Instructor. La'Toya has been heavily involved in community mobilization and engagement. She serves as a board member with The Black Mama’s ATX, where her expertise is applied to improve the health outcomes of postpartum women and reduce the mortality rates of Black infants. Her gift for training has been employed in equipping organizational staff with HIV testing and counseling skills.
La'Toya is not just passionate about work; she is also a dedicated mother to two boys and commits herself fully to social change, community empowerment, and preventive health awareness.
